I'm a bad babysitter

That’s me babysitting my little buddy Parker on Friday night. It was early in the evening when this picture was taken and I can’t figure out who looks more nervous, Parker or me? The poor kid looks like he’s trying to say “Dad, don’t leave me alone with this drunken maniac!” You can read the rest of the story here.

What's really disturbing is that you think it's so cool that you looked after a kid while you were drunk...whether or not you were really drunk, it's lame.

You're entitled to your opinion. But I never said it was cool. I was just making fun of myself and the situation.

I had a few glasses of wine with Parker's parents before they left. Had something happened, I was sober and clear-headed enough to take care of Parker properly :)

Who is more mature and responsible than she lets on

some people really have to get a sense of humour --- do they really think that you would get loaded, look after a kid and then actually write about it in a public forum? sheesh!!!

p.s. love to new photo on top (you're going to have to tell me how to do that!)

Hey Kathryn:

You are right on.

As the father of young Parker, a.k.a. PJ, a.k.a. the lad in question, a.k.a. DJ Screamsalot, I can assure all of Sarah's loyal fans, her family and future husbands that she is indeed a capable and responsible babysitter.

Parker had a great time frolicking in "Auntie" Sarah's bed (insert joke here about he being the first man to do so in some time) and being bathed by her (ditto). Like any good date, the wine merely took the edge off things. Parker told me later that Sarah really opened up to him and he felt that he "really got to know her" for the first time.

If I didn't know better, I'd say it was a crush.

Thanks again Sarah.

A very entertaining blog you have here. Have been reading with enjoyment for several weeks. Always looking forward to the next chapter. Just wanted to say....that baby looks good on you! You look more at ease than you probably care to admit.

Hi Moira,

Thanks for the nice words. Honestly, I love kids. Shhh...don't tell anyone. It would ruin my reputation :)

Parker definitely looks more nervous. Definitely.

As a not-so-secret baby luster after (who evidently makes no gramatical sense whatsoever), I'm jealous of your babysitting date!

Sarah,
Dave says you did a great job with Parker so you are obviously a better babysitter than Jane. Dave's other comments are very funny. Hope you babysit again.

Bri.

It was fun, and as I told Dave in person, I'd love to babysit Parker any time.
